Life of a Roller Coaster Wrangler

The best advice I've ever been given is a saying by Cherise Peter. "Life is like a roller coaster. You get on. Sometimes the hills are high, and sometimes they're low. Sometimes they twist and make you sick, sometimes they flip you upside down. But as soon as you get off, it doesn't matter if you got sick or you loved the ride, what matters is that you're alive, and thats way better than anything you've ever survived."

I'm not so sure about you, but I can't stand amusement parks, fairs, carnivals, or anything like that. Roller coasters are usually in amusement parks, and if I won't go in amusement parks, I don't go on roller coasters. Seriously. Last summer we went to Legoland Florida, and I chose pushing the baby stroller, going on kiddie rides with the three-year-old and sharing dripping ice cream cones over going on roller coasters with the rest of the family.. I might go on a roller coaster if it wasn't in any of the above mentioned places, but a roller coaster out in the middle of nowhere would seem a bit suspicious, don't you think?

What if you were to stand up and hold on to the roller coaster car with just your hands? You'd probably get yelled at. All'a them amusement park manager-people are so concerned about your safety, and they'd better be, because they'd get sued if their ride got people killed.

If only life was like that. Safe, guaranteed harmless, unless you happened to be prone to motion sickness. But alas, life is very much like hanging off of a roller coaster, rather than riding it, and it is by no means guaranteed safe unless you're 'Pregnant or prone to motion sickness or have heart disease'.

There's some days when we let life get the best of us and are hanging onto the edge for dear life. Theres other days when we are surfing that roller coaster car like its no ones business. A few of us even completely lose grip of the roller coaster, and fall into the abyss of drugs, alcohol, and other addictions that cause us to let our shiny roller coaster track get covered in mold and mildew, so that our roller coaster cart of life doesn't run so smoothly anymore.

In the words of Pepsi, My friend. "You can't just let this world push you around the way it wants to...you need to fight back..." Sometimes it is hard to be strong enough to stand up for yourself, and you realize that it would much easier with help. Lets do this. Together. What do you say? Can you handle it if we go against the crowd? What if we push back when we're pushed around? Come on. Lets take the plunge. Lets take the dare. Some things are worth the fight. We're braver together than we are on our own, you know.

I challenge you, wherever you are in life, to swing yourself back up onto that roller coaster car and, in the frustratingly inspirational and yet completely crazy and hilarious words of my very own mother, "Ride those waves, baby! Ride 'em!" Wherever you are in your life, you can find some anti-mold serum to clean that mold off of your tracks, and if you can't, ask someone for help. I guarantee that someone will know how to make anti-mold serum. : ) There's 7 billion people in the world, its obvious that you're not alone in this. And hey, I even know a few people that could teach you how to surf. True Story.
